Privacy Policy
Last updated Jul 11, 2026
zylio is built by people who dislike being tracked as much as you do. We collect the least amount of information needed to run the site, answer your messages, and ship good software — nothing more. This policy explains exactly what that means.
The short version
- We never sell your data, and we don't run advertising or third-party tracking pixels.
- We only ask for information when you choose to give it — to email you, reply to you, or send you a release you asked for.
- Everything is served over encrypted HTTPS, and we store as little as possible.
Information we collect
When you contact us. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message. We use it to read and reply to you — nothing else.
When you subscribe to the newsletter. We store your email address so we can send you release notes. Subscriptions are double opt-in: you confirm the address before we ever email you, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
When you request custom software. A custom-software enquiry is just a contact message — we keep the details you send so we can scope and reply to your request.
When you download or browse. We keep aggregate download counts per release (so we know what's popular), plus minimal server logs needed to keep the site running and to stop abuse. To rate-limit and detect abuse without storing who you are, any IP address is passed through a one-way keyed hash — we keep the hash, never the raw address.
Cookies. We use only what's strictly necessary. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your light/dark theme preference is stored locally in your own browser, not on our servers.
How we use your information
We use the information above only to:
- respond to your messages and support requests;
- send newsletter emails you explicitly signed up for;
- scope and reply to custom-software enquiries;
- keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and understand which releases are useful in aggregate.
Legal bases
Where data-protection law (such as the GDPR) applies, we rely on your consent for the newsletter, and on our legitimate interests in answering your enquiries and keeping the site secure and functional. You can withdraw consent to marketing at any time by unsubscribing.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information. We share it only with the service providers that make the site work — for example our hosting provider and the email-delivery service that sends transactional and newsletter mail. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: retained while we handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterward for follow-up, then deleted.
- Newsletter email: kept until you unsubscribe.
- Logs and hashed abuse-prevention data: kept only briefly, then rotated out.
Security
Traffic is encrypted end-to-end with TLS (HTTPS). Passwords for any account are stored only as strong Argon2id hashes, IP addresses are stored only as irreversible hashes, and access to systems is tightly limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, modern measures to protect your data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, to object to certain processing, or to receive a copy of it. You can exercise any of these — or ask a question — by emailing support@zylio.net. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.
Children
zylio is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
International transfers
We operate online and our providers may process data in other countries. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure your information continues to be handled in line with this policy.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy we'll revise the "last updated" date above, and — for significant changes — do our best to flag it. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
